Karla Spetic, the Croatian-born, Sydney-based designer, unveiled her Resort ’25 collection, titled “Ikigai: A Reason for Being,” at Australian Fashion Week 2025, captivating audiences with a fusion of Japanese cinematic inspiration and feminine strength. Drawing from the works of filmmakers like Shohei Imamura and Kenji Mizoguchi, Špetić’s designs reflect themes of female autonomy, resilience, and empowerment.

The collection showcased bold hues—raven black, Tarantino red, stark white, and azure blue—creating a commanding yet alluring palette. Signature elements included sheer lace bodysuits, oversized jackets with lace-up details, and lingerie-inspired prints, subverting traditional notions of femininity and offering a sense of empowerment through unconventional layering. ​
