Chef JJ Johnson, a James Beard Award-winning chef, author, and TV personality, is dedicated to amplifying Black culture through food. His event, “The Cookout,” is a celebration of African American cuisine, hosted as part of the SOBEWFF® and designed to honor the culinary traditions that have shaped Black culture.

As the founder of FIELDTRIP, Chef JJ brings his vision to life by showcasing dishes that highlight the rich, diverse flavors of Black cuisine. A talented group of chefs, equally passionate about preserving historical food traditions, will prepare these dishes, each telling a story through its ingredients and techniques.

Held at the Eden Roc, this walkaround event is a celebration of culture and community, where guests can indulge in soulful dishes paired with refreshing Stella Artois. “The Cookout” offers a unique opportunity to experience the deep-rooted history of Black cuisine, blending tradition, creativity, and love in every bite.
