On April 10, 2025, Vancouver Fashion Week presented an eclectic mix of designers, each bringing their unique vision to the runway. The evening commenced with doors opening at 4:30 PM, leading into a series of captivating shows.

​Part 1 DOOR OPENS AT 4:30 PM 

SHOW I

  • 5:00 PM – Love to Ukraine : Returning to the Vancouver runway, Love to Ukraine, founded by Ukrainian-Canadian designer Tetyana Golota, showcased a collection that beautifully merged Ukrainian tradition with contemporary design. Collaborating with designers Tanya Znak, Julia Sisman, and Maria Shamedko, the collection paid homage to Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage. The presentation was enhanced by a performance from The Dovbush Dancers, adding depth to the cultural narrative. The ensembles featured high-quality fabrics, vibrant colors, and delicate floral motifs, reflecting a profound connection to nature and the changing seasons. Shamedko’s intricate embroidery highlighted the meticulous craftsmanship, solidifying Love to Ukraine’s reputation as a brand that honors historical traditions with a modern perspective.
  • 5:10 PM – Madaleine Nelson : Hailing from Cobourg, Ontario, Madaleine Nelson presented her latest collection inspired by Canada’s wild west. With a BA in Fashion from Solent University, Nelson’s designs exuded a colorful, flirty, and country-chic aesthetic. Her passion for textile print design was evident, as she often begins her creative process by developing unique prints that inspire her collections. The collection featured green and purple wools, brown and teal suede, and playful prints, capturing the spirit of the Canadian countryside with a modern, feminine twist.

SHOW II

  • 5:40 PM – beeld by Nicola Marais : Australian-born and South African-raised, Nicola Marais, now based in Vancouver, introduced her brand, Beeld. Emphasizing natural and deadstock fibers, Marais focuses on creating high-quality garments that allow individuals to express themselves authentically. Her designs reflect her global experiences, blending diverse cultural influences into wearable art.
  • 5:50 PM – Ainsley McPherson : A recent graduate from the Blanche Macdonald Centre’s Fashion Design program, Ainsley McPherson showcased her debut collection, marking her entry into the fashion industry. Her designs encapsulate the essence of history intertwined with youthful alternative fashion, reflecting her flair for the eccentric and a penchant for styles of the past.
  • 6:00 PM – Carlie Olfert : Vancouver-based designer Carlie Olfert presented her innovative take on knitwear, reimagined in unexpected ways. With a detailed and technical approach, Olfert seeks to create wearable clothing infused with elements of fantasy and escapism. Her work has been recognized with the Blanche Macdonald Award for Excellence and featured in notable publications.

Part 2 DOOR OPENS AT 6:00 PM

SHOW III

  • 6:30 PM – Atira x EWMA : Atira Women’s Resource Society, through its Enterprising Women Making Art (EWMA) program, empowers women in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside by providing a platform for creative expression and financial independence. Since 2015, EWMA artists have graced the Vancouver Fashion Week runway, showcasing diverse works from fashion designs to visual arts, highlighting their resilience and creativity.
  • 6:40 PM – Lucky Boy : Designer Frances Brunner from Louisville, Kentucky, introduced Lucky Boy, a brand driven by themes of personal transformation and sustainability. A finalist in the 2023 Redress Design Awards, Brunner focuses on eco-friendly materials, creating garments that evolve with the wearer, aiming to inspire intentional living and self-expression.
  • 6:50 PM – Mivinna : Emerging designer Mivinna captivated the audience with a collection that seamlessly blended contemporary aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship. Her designs reflected a commitment to sustainability and innovation, marking her as a promising talent in the fashion industry.

SHOW IV

  • 7:20 PM – Lumina Eligma : Transitioning from a human rights activist in the Middle East to a fashion designer, Lumina Eligma uses fashion as a medium for advocacy and self-expression. Her designs balance structure with fluidity, embodying slow fashion, luxury craftsmanship, and timeless elegance, pushing the boundaries of textile innovation.
  • 7:30 PM – Jumper Zhang : Chinese high-end fashion brand JUMPER ZHANG, led by designer Zhang Peng, is renowned for pursuing artistic beauty and elegance. The brand emphasizes luxurious yet comfortable wear, with designs that blend grand, exquisite cutting with delicate, ingenious details, reflecting the harmony and intellect of urban women.

The third day of Vancouver Fashion Week celebrated a diverse array of designers, each bringing their unique narratives to the forefront, enriching the fashion landscape with cultural heritage, sustainability, and innovative design.
