This experience in a high-energy contemporary art environment encouraged him to fully embrace his artistic vision. After a period away from the art scene to work in trades such as carpentry and masonry\, Shockley returned to painting with a renewed passion. Now based in Koreatown\, Los Angeles\, he balances his work in a gallery with his artistic practice\, continuing to refine his technique and explore new themes. \n \nThe pieces on display in this exhibition reflect his fascination with magical realist literature\, blending the ordinary with the fantastical.
