Jeffrey Deitch Presents Austin Lee: Psychomachia

Jeffrey Deitch Gallery is pleased to present Austin Lee: Psychomachia during Miami Art Week 2024. This exhibition delves into the complexities of human emotion and psychology, blending digital and traditional art techniques to create vibrant paintings, sculptures, and videos.

Lee employs 3D and virtual reality software to develop intricate drawings, which are then translated onto canvas or fabricated in materials like resin and bronze. Inspired by his visit to Italy’s Giotto Chapel and the allegorical themes of Prudentius’s Psychomachia, his works reflect on virtues, vices, and raw emotions.

Notable pieces include Lion with Blue Eyes (2024), evoking strength, and In Bed (2024), capturing vulnerability. The central piece, Blue Fountain (2022–2024), was previously showcased at the Lotte Museum of Art in Seoul. A mezzanine series of new video works deepens the exhibition’s exploration of surveillance and self-reflection.
